People who have availed different services from Holy Cross Hospital before shared their opinion - GanjaGeisha said, giving a rating of 1 out of 5, If I could give this place a 0 star, I would. Took my mother to the ER at 4pm and she wasn’t seen until 8:30pm. The staffs there was so unorganized and rude. People that came before my mom was still waiting to be seen. The restroom was filthy and had blood stains all over the toilet seat and floor. I even went to the information desk to tell them about it and he didn’t even show any attentiveness since it took the cleaning person to come 1 hour later to clean it up. It’s like they don’t have enough doctors or rooms for the patients to be seen, which is unfair. Before the pandemic, they had everything on point. There should be no excuse to why you all are still struggling especially in a hospital setting. Won’t ever bring her here in the future. - Fae Sutherland said, giving a rating of 5 out of 5, I have to say I am surprised by all the really horrible reviews. Not saying they're not true, but I had a completely different experience at Holy Cross in Silver Spring. I was scheduled for surgery on May 8th 2017 and arrived a bit earlier out of nervousness. They were very kind and took me back to pre op even though I was an hour early, getting me all settled and comfy and did all the pre op work, then brought my wife back to keep me company and help me relax before surgery. Surgery ended up being delayed by half an hour but they came and talked to me several times keeping me up to date and when it was time to go the nurse made sure someone escorted my wife to the waiting room and showed her how the pager system worked and what she could expect in terms of surgery time length and my surgeon coming to see her after.

I was pretty scared, but the entire staff were so kind and reassured me the entire time they were taking me to the OR and getting the anesthesia started. I don't remember much until waking up in a private recovery room about an hour after surgery was over. My wife had already been brought back and was there waiting for me in the room to wake up, so I never had any moment of being afraid or not knowing what was going on or where she was as the drugs wore off. The nurses were wonderful, kept on top of my pain and though there was a small mix up where there was no room upstairs ready for me that night, they made sure I had everything i needed in the recovery room. I had my surgery on Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening a room upstairs was ready for me. So a slight inconvenience, but nothing big as the staff took wonderful care of me both down in recovery that whole day and after up in the regular room.

The room I was given was huge and private and so comfy. Food was decent (I was mostly on a liquid diet while I was there so I can't really comment on the regular food). Nurses were responsive and never left me waiting for more than maybe 10 or 15 minutes when I'd hit the call button, happy to help me to the bathroom or bring me ice water or help me walk the halls once I was able.

I was so pleased with my stay here. In fact, I ended up staying a day less than I was authorized, simple because they took such good care of me I was ready to go home on wednesday instead of thursday. Mind you, they made sure I knew I could stay another day if I felt like I needed it, but I was well on my way to recovery. Now 6 weeks later I am pretty much fully recovered with zero complications, the hospital has called several times to my home just to check and make sure I'm well and to ask if there was anything they could do to help me recover faster or better.

I really am sorry for anyone who had a bad experience, but I just can't disagree more about the quality of care at Holy Cross. I am on Medicare, which some places means subpar care, but HC made me feel like a VIP and I wouldn't hesitate to trust them with my care in the future. Compared to the hellacious stays I and my wife have had at Washington Adventist in the past 2 years, I will never go to another hospital other than HC again. Never. Thank you so much, especially to the nurses in recovery, who I’m sure were busy as heck with other urgent post op patients but never made me feel like I was a nuisance and treated me with care. <3
